14th Aug 2005 - Southbank Squad & Fixture News

Preparations for the 2005-06 season are now well under way with Southbank half way through the pre-season fixture list.  Pre-season kicked off with a 2-1 victory over AFC Allstars, which was followed up by a strong performance against Ruscombe Rascals that resulted in a comfortable 4-1 win.

This weekend saw the first friendlies with the squad split into two teams.  Despite missing a number of players the first team again looked very sharp and saw off Barton Rovers 6-0 with some exhilarating attacking football.  At the same time a similarly depleted Southbank Reserves suffered a 4-1 reverse at the hands of a strong Barton Rovers Res who will now be playing Division Two football this season after promotion from 3 West last season.

All in a decent start to the build up to the new season, and with no players leaving the squad so far, and a few welcomed new additions added, things are looking set for some on-field success in 2006.
