3rd Mar 2004 - Division Thre Central Run In

Southbank Res are locked in a fierce battle to maintain their Division 3 status.  They currently lie in 10th place which could potentially lead to relegation back down to Division 4.  However, as with most seasons recently a number of teams have dropped out of the leagues above and so this could mean only one team is relegated.  Below is a look at the teams at the foot of Division 3 Central and their remaining games.  In a league where everybody seems to be able to beat anybody Southbank Reserves can still finish the season on a high with a decent run of wins in their last 7 games.

                                                            P   W   D   L    F    A  GD  Pts

      Club Deportivo La Star                      17   6   1  10   32   45  -13  19

      Caversham Park                              16   5   1  10   38   47   -9   16

      Southbank Res                                13   2   2   9    21   37  -16    8

      Mapledurham Cav Res                      15   2   2  11   10   41  -31    8

Southbank Res remaining league fixtures:

14/03 Bulmershe Old Boys (a)

21/03 Henley YMCA (h)

28/03 Forest FC (h)

The Sun (h)

Caversham Town (h)

Autocare (h)

Caversham Park (a)

With at least 3 games in hand on the two teams above them, and yet to play both sides, and only 8 and 9 points behind, Southbank can still realistically move up a couple of places with a string of good results despite some tough opposition in Bulmershe, Forest, The Sun and Caverhsam Town.  The fixture backlog created by the long spell of inactivity since Christmas might prove to help or hinder Southbank depending on player availability and confidence going in to the last few games.

Mapledurham Cavaliers Res remaining league fixtures:

14/03 Caversham Town (h)

21/03 Bulmershe Old Boys (a)

28/03 Caversham Park (a)

Caversham Town (h)

Autocare (h)

Rooted to the bottom of the table with the same points as Southbank but less games to play.  Their remaining fixtures include 3 tough fixtures against promotion contenders Caverhsam Town and Bulmershe Old Boys.  Have had to odd success but the recent defeat to Caversham Park looks to have sealed a bottom 2 finish.

Caversham Park's remaining league fixtures:

07/03 Bulmershe Old Boys (a)

14/03 Autocare (a)

28/03 Mapledurham Cav Res (h)

Southbank (h)

They have the points in the bag but still have a couple of tricky fixtures left.  A lot may hinge on a late season 6 pointer with Southbank Res and they should be looking over their shoulder for Southbanks late charge.

Club Deportivo La Star's remaining league fixtures:

07/03 The Sun (h)

21/03 Caversham Town (a)

Autocare (h)

Only 3 games remain for Deportivo who could still find themselves overhauled by Southbank or Caversham Park if they slip up against Autocare with their other two games against Caversham Town and The Sun who are both pushing for the two promotion spots.
