7th Sept 2005 - 2005-06 Season Underway

The 2005-06 season got underway with Southbank falling to a disappointing 2-1 defeat at the hands of Black Boy.  Despite opening the scoring through Steve Woodrow two goals late on in each half saw The 'Bank stutter to an early defeat (click here for more).

Elsewhere in Division One West the early pace setters are Misfits.  They sit top of the table after an impressive 10-0 victory over last seasons third place side, Mortimer West End.  Southbank's pre-season opponents Englefield also suffered opening day blues with a 4-0 defeat away to Mapledurham Cavaliers.  In the other fixture Trentonians saw off Southcote Video Res 1-0.

Southbank Res started in the season with an all action display, coming away with a point at home against No Limits in what was an entertaining 6-6 draw (click here for more)!  A debut goal for Tony Nolan and a Jeff Evans hatrick were the highlights of the game with Player/Manager Andy Persaud and youngster Steve Mahoney completing the scorers.

The result sees them start the season in mid table with Wrightchoice, 7-0 victors over Mapledurham Cavaliers Res, the top side so far.
