16th Oct 2005 - Howroyd Shocker as Southbank Lose

Southbank goalkeeper Luke Howroyd was left with a broken tibia (shin) after a 50/50 tackle against Whitley Tavern Res as Southbank were knocked out of the Berks & Bucks Junior Cup at Whitley Rec.

Luke remained amazingly calm (thanks to some impressive gas!) whilst paramedics attended to his injuries before being whisked away to RBH for further treatment.  X-rays confirmed it was indeed a break and thankfully doctors reassured Luke that it didn't need operating on and that it was a relatively clean break which should heal quickly.  After having his leg plastered he was kept in overnight and will be out of action for at least ten weeks.

Everyone at the club wishes Luke a speedy recovery.

The game saw Southbank unlucky to be on the losing side with Tavern causing little threat going forward and The 'Bank having all the goalscoring opportunities (click here for more detail).

Away from the dramatic events at Whitley Southbank Reserves secured a 4-3 win against Victoria Park thanks to goals from Steve Mahoney, Mig Frade, Tony Nolan and a penalty from Ian Harvey (click here for more details).  The win sees Andy Persaud's side into the second round of the Berks & Bucks Junior Trophy.
