7th September - Season Kicks Off

A new era at Southbank FC kicked off on Sunday 3rd September with new Manager Simon "Hightower" Price's first competitive game kicking off the 2006-07 season.

Following a busy summer of transfer activity and re-structuring of the squad Hightower has assembled an young attack minded squad to take the club into a new chapter.   With a number of former players hanging up their boots Hightower has promoted promising youngsters Miguel Frade and Raph Allen from the Reserves and added some new faces in James Wagner, Benji Williams and Wayne Tully.  All five look like they'll compliment Hightowers attacking intentions and certainly add pace and flair to last seasons squad.

The new look Southbank opened up the season with a tricky first game against last seasons 3rd placed team Black Boy.  The first half saw some excellent play by The 'Bank but it was a Southbank old hand, Bryce Bellman, who put Black Boy to the sword with an excellent hatrick to prove his return to form.  Youngster Raph Allen added a fourth to seal a well deserved 4-3 win.

Elsewhere Southbank Reserves lost to Caversham Park 5-2 to record a defeat in Wayne 'Scouse' Woods first game as Manager.  Although Scouse has lost a couple of players to the first team over the summer his squad is taking shape and more is expected when the side gells.
