10th Sept 2007 - Mixed Fortunes
as Scouse Quits The 'Bank
There were mixed emotions for Southbank this weekend as 3 hard
earned points for the first team were over shaddowed by the news
that Reserve Team Manager Wayne Woods has decided to step down from
his duties because of family commitments. Scouse had made the
decision long before the 4-0 defeat away to Park Villa (click
here for more details) as he
felt he needed to spend more time with his daughter and less time
with a bunch of sweaty unfit and hungover big kids. Scouse has
however made assurances that his face will still be seen on a
regular basis at both games, and probably more frequently the 'Banks
social events!
Everyone wishes Scouse well and I'm sure all understand his motives and
thank him for all the hard work and effort he's put in over the last 18
months to keep the Reserves, and indeed the club as a whole, above water.
Former first team manager Mark Holton has agreed to step into Scouse's boots
and take over running the Reserve team affairs.
Better news came out of Coley Park as Hightowers first team coped well
with a number of changes from last weeks team to see off a capable Riverside
team 4-3. A third goal in two games for Jason Wagner got The 'Bank on
their way before Olly Bradbury and Gavin Hill stretched the lead to 3-0.
A mini-crisis was averted and Benji Williams first goal of the season was
enough to protect the three points (click
here for more details).
Elsewhere Barton Rovers followed up their opening day victory to beat
Henley Town Res 2-0 and sit at the top of the League, matching Southbanks
100% record.
