Latest News from Southbank FC

31st Dec 2007 - New Year, New Fortunes?

Southbank's 2007 stuttered to a close as weather problems hit both sides fixture lists.

With former Club Secretary and First Team Manager Mark Holton taking over control of the Reserves following Scouse's resignation it was hoped that the year would close on a positive note.  With exits from both the League and Berks & Bucks cups and a loss and two wins in the league this wasn't quite reflected in results.  Performances did improve though and good wins against Park Villa (6-1 at the end of Oct) and FC Henley (5-2 in the only game to beat the December weather) showed the signs that 2008 could prove to see Southbank Reserves climb the table.

Meanwhile Hightower's first team has a productive November, with progression in the Berks & Bucks Cup and a handsome 6-1 victory over Trentonians followed up with another victory against Riverside (3-1) before the weather ended 2007.  The year ends with Southbank well positioned for a promotion challenge and a good chance of a long overdue cup run in the Berks & Bucks Cup.
