27th April 2008 - Southbank Secure Second Spot
and Promotion Southbank ended the 2007-08 season on a high with a
2-1 victory over Associated Asphalt, a result that meant both clubs finished
the season on 42 points with AA's running out as Champions thanks only to a
superior goal difference.
Midweek results over the last two weeks (The 'Bank seeing off Henley Town
5-0 in one of the performances of the season and AA's beating promotion
rivals Barton Rovers 3-2) meant that the top two places were settled going
into this final fixture, unless Southbank could pull off a 7-0 win!
Despite the 'dead rubber' scenario a keenly contested match was won with a
trademark 30 yard free kick from skipper Jason Wagner.

Southbank Reserves Division 3 status is under threat with 11th placed side
Park Villa have a chance to overhaul The 'Banks tally of 17 points IF they
beat the leagues in form side Spread Eagle. If Southbank finish in
11th their fate could will lie in the leagues hands but with higher
divisions missing teams it would be unlikely that any teams will face
relegation from 3 Central this season.
