Latest News from Southbank FC

25th December 2008 - Christmas Update

As 2008 comes to a close both Southbank teams are sitting pretty in 2nd place in their respective leagues.

Southbank 1st team have enjoyed a very good 2008 with only 3 games being lost throughout the entire calendar year.

After promotion to the Premier Division this season, Southbank have very quickly established a liking for this level and are  determination to push as high up the league as possible.  Despite a disappointing result against Wrightchoice on the opening day of the season only one defeat since, to Senior Division challengers Dee Road in the Cup, has marked an otherwise excellent season so far.  The new additions to the tight squad have settled in well and with progress to the 4th round of the Berks & Bucks Cup secured (and a big test Stevie B's - cup holders of the last two seasons - on the cards) Hightower is looking forward to 2009 with some enthusiasm.

Meanwhile Southbank Reserves have enjoyed similar successes in Division 3 Central.  Following a 2-1 win against Bethel United in Budda's first game in charge the Reserves have gone on an impressive run of 8 wins from 8 league games and remain one of only 3 teams (FC Whitley and Early Home Guard being the other two) with a perfect league record going into 2009.

2009 is all set to be a vintage year for Southbank IF both teams can keep up their good form and commitment.

Happy New Year from everyone at the club.
