9th Jan 2005 - No New Year Joy
for Southbank
Southbank kicked off 2005 with a defeat at the hands of Whitley Tavern Res
despite a spirited second half fight back.
Trailing to a deserved 1-0 Tavern lead Southbank fought back well with a much
improved second half display. However, Tavern extended their lead a
Southbank pushed for an equaliser but this didn't stop Southbank piling on the
pressure in search of a way back into the game. In the end it was left to
emergency striker Danny Fitzpatrick to claw The 'Bank back with an audacious
lob over the keeper from 30 yards.
This
was too little too late as Tavern withstood the Southbank onslaught to preserve
their slender advantage.
On a
positive note for The 'Bank the game saw the return of Olly Bradbury from his
time abroad as well as midfielder Allan Kemps return from injury.
