30th August 2009 -  Southbank to Make History in 2009-10

Southbank go into the new 2009-10 season making club history on two fronts as both of the clubs teams kick off the campaign in their highest divisions since the club was formed in 1997.

The first team are competing in the Reading Sunday League's top division having finished runners up to Wrightchoice CSA in last seasons Premier Division.  The Senior Division will be unchartered waters, but with some familiar faces to line up against Hightower's team will be well aware of the challenge ahead of them.

The division has been dominated in recent seasons by Sunday footballs 'Big 3' of Whitley Tavern, Stevie B's and Dee Road Rangers.  Joining them at the top end of the league recently have been Richfield Rovers, a side who passed Southbank on the way to the top table only a few years ago.  The full line up in the Senior Division is:

Following their league winning success in 2008-09 Southbank Reserves are also moving up a league to their highest level and will be locking horns with the rest of Division 2 Central this season.  Joining them in the league will be Bethel United (runners up to Southbank Res in Division 3 Central last season), YMCA United (elevated from Division 3) and 3 East's runners up, the free scoring Celtic Rangers.
