31st Oct 2004 - Prickly Weekend
for Southbank
A solitary point from two games was all Southbank had to show for Sunday's
exertions as the First team lost 2-1 and the Reserves were held to a 2-2 draw.
A well work move saw Paul Towner claim his first goal of the season against
Premier Division leaders Abbey Rangers. Two first half strikes from
Didcot Town's Bradley Ward, a free and a penalty, saw off a spirited Southbank
side who's performance was greatly improved over the previous weeks efforts.
This was Abbey's 6th win from 6 games and they look strong favourites for the
league.
Harvey and Persaud's Reserve team squandered several chances to claim all three
points against Rose & Thistle as Raph Allen's second brace of the season wasn't
quite enough in the 2-2 draw.
The weekends results see the First team hovering just above the relegation
places before this weekend's derby game against Alfred's Head, while the
Reserves point puts them in 4th place and 4 points behind league leaders AFC
Burghfield.
