Good
Form Continues
Southbank continued their good form with a 2 nil
win against County Arms @ Kings Meadow this
Sunday.
As like
previous weeks, there were a number of missing
players including Mig, Fletcher, Ricky Haimes,
Bradbury and Ricky Gale. Hightower was also
unavailable and so the responsibility of
management fell upon the shoulders of Ricky
Gale. A manager in the making perhaps as a
motivated performance followed and somewhat
revenge against the team, which ultimately
started the slid which led to the Bank’s
promotion hopes disappearing this season.
It was
against the same opposition just after Christmas
that after leading 2 nil at half time, lost 5-2
after having Jason Wagner sent off. 5 further
defeats followed this game and it could be
argued that the team had plenty of opportunity
to recover but it is the belief of Hightower,
that this was the game that saw the tide turn
against his team this season.
There
was not going to be a repeat of this scoreline
however, as the disciplined Bank produced
another solid display following last weeks
impressive win at Trentionians.
Because
of the number of absentee’s, a reshuffle was
required within the team, with the ‘legend’
Bellman taking up his reserved position of
centre half alongside the ‘now fit’ Jason Wagner
and the returning Steve Woodrow doing a shift
for the team on the left of midfield.
Goals in
both halves by Jason McKie and Benji Williams
saw the Bank home with the added bonus of a
clean sheet for Charlie. There may be little to
play this season, except the pride and the
highest possible league position finish, which
looks to be fifth but the top scorer position,
is up for grabs. Both players are now in double
figures, who will steal the mantle of top scorer
for the season???
Team:
Cook, Allen, Gull,
Wagner, Bellma, Derman, Roughnegn,
Small, Woodrow, Williams, McKie
