Southbank scored a last minute penalty to
secure their first away point of the season
with a draw against IBIS. With the game
deadlocked after 70 mins, Southbank took the
lead through Neil Healy. Healy found the back
of the net, after Jason McKie’s initial shot
had been saved by the IBIS stopper. Healy
composed himself turned a defender and drilled
home from 12 yards with his left foot.
Southbank hoped to consolidate that position
but found themselves on the wrong end of a
dubious penalty decision a couple of minutes
later. Danny Fitzpatrick harshly adjudged to
have handled in the area, gave IBIS the
opportunity to equalise. The penalty kick was
saved by the impressive Steve Marshall in goal
but did not have the luck of previous weeks as
his save rebounded straight to the penalty
taker who made no mistake to equalise.
IBIS were now dominating the game as the large
pitch began to take its toll, they looked
dangerous every time they went forward and
took the lead and turn the game around on 75 mins. Some poor defending from Southbank
allowed Martin Abery to pick up a loose ball
in the left back area drive into goal and
finish easily to give IBIS the ahead.
Things looked bleak for Southbank as the clock
ticked down and the frustration grew. IBIS had
several long range chances to seal a third and
Olly Bradbury commanding again in central
defence kept Southbank in the game and enabled
the drama at the end, Benji William’s fouled
by the last man as he tried to turn, allowed
Jason McKie to grab his 5th goal for the
season from the spot and secure a hard fought
point for Southbank.
