A
disappointing performance that failed to reach the standards set in recent
weeks saw Southbank falter to a 2-0 defeat to a well organised IBIS side at
Coley Park.
Despite
fielding a strong looking side Southbank never really got their passing game
together. Towner and Brown had a difficult game in the centre of the park
and the fluid play of recent weeks failed to materialise as Southbank missed
the influential Andy Hands.
IBIS
started the game the better and, aided by a strong wind, put the Southbank back
four under some telling pressure in the opening 30 minutes. Both IBIS
goals came during this spell as a well worked move saw an IBIS forward slot
past an exposed Spokes who stood no chance. The same can't be said for
the second IBIS goal which came from a shot from 35 yards. Spokes seemed
to have it covered but at the last minute tried to control the ball with his
right foot and the ball spun off his heal and into the empty net.
Although
Southbank came back in to it towards the end of the half it remained 2-0 at
half time.
The
second half was a different story as Southbank layed seige to the IBIS
goal. A well organised IBIS defence managed to hold firm and restrict The
Bank to half chances whilst their young front line always looked a threat on
the counter attack.
Despite
all the pressure though Southbank couldn't pull a goal back IBIS claimed all 3
points.
