IT'S A GAME OF TWO HALVES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Well we do I start with yesterday's match report. The was
an air expectancy yesterday morning when we were warming up. Everyone seemed
to upbeat about the game that lay ahead. Then before the kick off I was
dealt a massive blow with Karl saying that his shins were still sore and he
wanted to sit our for the second week in a row. Then to add fuel to the fire
Mark Maskell informing me that he went over on his ankle earlier in the week
and that was playing him up. (Two pacey defenders out not a great start)
Still we had enough defenders for this not to hurt us to much.
Team talk and everyone seemed to be up for it. Kick off
came and apart from the first five minutes when thay came out of the blocks
a little bit better than the Bank, There was only one team for the next 30
minutes or so. We applied plenty of pressure and gave them the run around.
Now another blow to the Banks defence when Danny comes off
with a tight Hamstring making this three injured defenders on Scouse's
sidelines. He was replaced by a very capable first team player in the shape
of Ricky Haimes.
(Hopefully Mark, Danny & Karl will all be fit and
available for next
week...........)
Ali Mac with his darting runs down the right hand side and
getting plenty of crosses into the box.I did at one point think is this
going to happen as the pressure we applied was loads but still no goals.
Then Holton found himself in a tight angle with a defender chasing him hard
and the keeper narrowing his angle. Not a problem for Mr Southbank himself
as he struck the ball as sweet as a nut and put it in the top corner. 1-0 to
the bank and only everything we desevered and worked hard for. I thought now
that we were going to build on this and go on and finish the game off......
But more or less striaght away which is something we have got to get out of
the habit of happeneing to us. They went straight up the other end and
equalised. 1-1.
The game was still going in favour of the home team and the
pressure kept on coming. But again a bit of pace from there forwards and our
back four lacking a bit of pace they went on to score there second. We are
now trailing 1-2. Half time and we were down but not out. I still thought
that we could go out and win the game.Second half
and no changes from the home side. When not long after the whistle Jeff
Evans brought the game back level its now 2-2 and for the second week
running the Bank look again like they have got the upper hand, The visitors
our looking a little bit deflated but again for the second week running we
didnt capiatlize.
Then shock horror and we do it again we gift our opponents
a chance to let them go in front it is now 2-3 and the Bank trail.
Another sub to try and get the trappy Jason on bringing Guppy
off and pushing Ali Mac back to left back to see if we could break them
down. Now what happened next boys believe me I can't
rememeber much apart from me for the first time in a long time being lost
for words and that doesnt happen much let me tell ya.
It now goes from bad to worse 2-4, 2-5, 2-6, 2-7, 2-8,
2-9. Boys WHY ??????????????????
To make things worse I then lose Towner through a horrible
looking bump on his knee. He gets replaced by the first team centre forward
in Woody.
The thing that winds me up the most is that we were by far
the better team yesterday and we totally let ourselves down. If we play and
we get beat but we give a good account of oursleves and play to the best of
our ability then no one can moan. But when we drop our heads and look like
we don't care thats when it hurts and beleive me it hurts.
I do believe that we have a tallented bunch of players and
WE CAN AND WE WILL PUT A RUN OF RESULTS TOGETHER BUT ONLY IF WE WANT IT
ENOUGH.
Next week is a cup game and all I want is for my players
to enjoy there football again WIN LOSE OR DRAW LETS REMEBER TO ENJOY IT
AGAIN.....Lets keep the belief and the passion. I promise you it will come
lads our time is soon.....
