NEARLY DIDN'T WIN THE WAR !!!!

WHAT A CUP TIE!!!!!

Well boys disappointed but learnt allot from Sunday's result. The game started brightly for the Bank and we were looking the stronger team for the first half an hour. Two goals from Harvey in the first half. The first coming from again the usual supplier in Andy Mac and one of his pin pointed corners. The second came of his knee or elbow or at least some part of his body but it found the back of the net and that is all that matters. The score 2-0 to the bank and we are looking in total control of the tie.

The first half an hour football was possibly the best football you boys have giving me this year, However we have got to remember that a game of football lasts for 90 minutes. We seem to have a bad habit of switching of during a game (Something we have got to leave behind during the month of December with the fixtures that we have coming up). The teams we are about to play will punish us if we don't.

The bank were cruising at 2-0 and then with a massive blow to our defence Danny Iremonger made a great challenge but unfortunately coming of worse and doing the ligaments in his knee (Hope you are back soon mate and not in too much pain). He was replaced by the very capable Tony Nolan. This however did leave us a little bit exposed at the back as Danny Iremonger had the pace and the commitment to deal with there very talented and quick left winger.

Then we were dealt a massive blow as they went on to score in the last kick of the first half bringing the score to 2-1.

Half time team talk and although we were still 2-1 up there goal just before half time took the wind out of our sails a little bit and most of my players seemed to be deflated.

Second half started and we forgot to start for the first ten minutes and low and behold we get punished as they take advantage of this. The tie is now all level 2-2. Then we start to show a little bit of character and Andy Mac scored with a great volley from outside the box the Bank now take the lead again 3-2 and it is turning into a cup tie worthy of match of the day. Still I didn't feel we were playing to our full potential. They were still looking like they were going to score again and they were more goals to come from both sides.

With the game now at 3-2 but with a long time left on the refs watch they again equalize and again bring the tie all level 3-3. By this time I am going through every emotion possible and feeling like David Moyes at Anfield for the first time in the game they take the lead and we are behind and looking totally deflated 3-4. But still feeling like this game has more to offer up pops an unlikely scorer in Nathen Poffley who scores a screamer from about 35 yards out (Rooney would have been proud of) again the tie is all level and the manager is getting balder by the minute (NO Jokes please) 4-4.

Can we go on and win this game unfortunately we have a comedy of errors and as they kick off from our goal they go straight up the other end and score as though we weren't even on the pitch (I lose a little bit more hair) 4-5 and they are in front for the second time in the game and they are growing in confidence.

There confidence shows as their lead increases and they are the team with a two goal lead. Time for a couple of changes and on comes Guppy for the tired but still capable Harvey and Oggie for the also tired Karl. Have I left it to late to turn take the tie into extra time. Then up steps Mr Reliable Jeff and he gives us a glimmer of hope and the tie looking again like a FA cup semi 5-6.

Are we running out of time lads can we still do it. We get awarded a corner with about 2 minutes left and time to get 11 players in their box Macca's corner we hit the bar and have a goal mouth scramble but there seems to be a magnet keeping the ball out of their goal and we can't pull it back final whistle comes and the game finishes 5-6.

Lads although disappointed that we didn't go through to the next round. The couple of things I learnt from the sidelines was they were no mugs & they had quite a few talented players and we gave them a run for there money. But lets remember that we can't switch off as teams will hurt us.

Time to concentrate on the league and gain promotion if we play like we did in parts of that game we can achieve anything.
