New Manager Steve 'Budda' Booth saw his side kick off the 2008-09 season with a hard fought 2-1 over newly promoted Bethel United at Coley Park.  A goal on his debut from Gazza Jones sealed the win after Jason Cusworth opened the scoring with a composed finish from just inside the box after 20 minutes.  A nervy last ten minutes came about after Budda pulled one back for Bethel with an unfortunate own goal.

Having been forced to shuffle the pack somewhat after a few late withdrawls, the 2-1 win was a very satisfying result against a side that played some good football and should be there or there abouts this season.
